Power Tool + Musician= Crazy Sports Name

Maryland Terrapins

Sander Beck #30

Freshman

Right Handed Pitcher

6'3"/ 195 lbs

Bats: R Throws: R

This fine upstanding young gentleman can't help his name. But really who names their kid after a power tool and not even a really cool power tool. C'mon can't you name your kid Saw, Hammer Drill, or compound miter saw. Anything is better than Sander.

Sander Beck is a freshman at Maryland where he has compiled a 0-0 record with a 5.40 ERA with 13 K's and 11 BB's. He is projected to be a starter next year with the Terps with improved command of his pitches.

He is an excellent student he graduated high school with a 3.42 GPA (Hey that's better than his ERA). He also is into Latin? He is a 3 time silver medalist in the National Latin Exam and won some other Latin Award too. With his latin he is also a state champion chess player. Nerd Much?

On his bio for Maryland it also lists his Volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity and the Special Olympics. The CSN Blog gives him 2 thumbs up for that.

Although, Sander Beck must be an upstanding young man his parents needed to rethink their naming strategy. What I mean is when you combine a wimpy power tool with a weird musician that doesn't equal a good name. It equals a Crazy Sports Name. It can flow into a simple equation which I'm sure Sander Beck would like:

Power Tool + Musician= Crazy Sports Name
